Sadly, the majority of my long-time friends have left San Diego. As a result, this was a much quieter Christmas than in the past. On the other hand, I didn't return to San Diego for Christmas last year, so this was the first big family gathering in two years (my sister was home from Kenya for the month also). In addition, a couple of my friends have now moved just north of San Diego to UC Irvine -- only about 1.5 hours away.
