Las Vegas, Summer 2000

I took a much-needed break from work and school in late June to return to San Diego and, from there, take a short, but very relaxing, trip to Las Vegas with JP. We stayed at Caesar's Palace, so, with a hearty s.v.b.e.v. (for those of you who know what that means), here are the pictures...

Saturday: Adventure Day

We also did indoor skydiving while we were there on Saturday, but we couldn't take pictures of that.

These pictures were taken inside of Caesar's Palace, in the middle of the shopping area.

Sunday: IMAX Day

On Sunday, we finished up the last couple of rides (the Stratosphere rides were closed Saturday because of high winds) and saw the IMAX ride shows at Luxor (Dinosaurs) and Caesar's Palace (Race for Atlantis). Caesar's show was better.

We also did a lot of drinking on Sunday...those "margaritas-by-the-yard" are so tempting...

JP Striking a Pose in New York, New York

NY, NY was a really neat hotel. The attention to detail was incredible, including these manhole covers that periodically let steam out through them.

The Coney Island Part of NY, NY had typical carnival games - including "Guess your Age/Weight/Birthday". I've always known that I could stump anyone guessing my age. I did (unfortunately, he guessed that I was 38). For appearing 50% older than I actually am, I won a nifty giant purple alien crayon! Whee!

After being aged 12 years, I needed a drink, so we went to Gonzalez y Gonzalez for what are supposed to be the best margaritas anywhere. We weren't disappointed. (As for the conversions, one large blue thing = 5 margaritas, 2 large blue things = 1 very happy vacationer).

After some drinking, we took to the "streets" of New York. Blurry? Yeah, it looked that way to us too.

While out searching for more tired, poor, and sick, we bumped into Miss (Ms?) Liberty.

Monday: Pool Day

We decided to take it easy on Monday and just hang out at the pool.
