Like most other years, I returned to San Diego for Spring Break. With a couple notable exceptions (you know who you are), the trip was rather uneventful.
My Cousin's Birthday
Here I am with Annalise, my cousin, on
her 7th birthday.
The Museum of Death
Here's John-Paul at the entrance to the
Museum.
John-Paul and I visited the Museum of
Death on Wednesday. Despite having lived in San Diego for most of my
life, I never knew this place was there. It's small, but it does have
some interesting stuff (if you're interested in death).
Here are our tickets and a membership form for the
museum. Joining at the Resurrected Corpse level ($1000) gets you free
lifetime admission! However, given the nature of the museum, you're
presumably welcome to visit after your lifetime as well.
Time with John
In keeping with long-standing tradition,
I had Sunday brunch with John at
California
Cafe. I think their Sunday brunch (food, location, etc.) is one
of the best, if not the best, in San Diego. Here I am after
several mimosas...mimosi?
I also went to dinner with John at one of our
favorite restaurants: Peohe's.
It serves Hawaiian-Pacific Rim fusion-type food from a beautiful
location at the water's edge on Coronado (a little semi-island next
to San Diego).
Time with John-Paul
John-Paul after being "prepared" for an
evening out worshiping the devil. Or something. For those
fashion-conscious ones of you who are wondering: Yes, that is
a latex shirt. And I got to paint it on :-) so eat your hearts out! A
friend of his gave him a jar of "Liquid Latex." Very interesting
stuff. After painting several coats on him (as Andrew Carnegie said,
"My heart is in the work"), it dries and forms a "second skin."
Here are
the three of us (David, John-Paul, and Chip) getting ready to go into
the club. It was late at night, so you can't see details in the
picture all that clearly. If it was a better picture you could see my
ensemble (and my new leather pants!!!) more clearly. We had an
enormous amount of fun that evening (mostly after we left the club,
but there aren't any pictures of that).
