The usual gang (Brian, Carter, Heather, and I) decided after our trip to Ohio's Rockin' Roller Coast we had to visit Pittsburgh's own "Rockin' Coaster". As was to be expected with Pittsburgh's answer to anything, it was dated, bland, and generally unimpressive.
We managed to have a decent time anyway though...mostly by mocking Pittsburg(h)'s obsession with its past. Then again, you'd be obsessed with your past too if you didn't have a future...
Please forgive the poor quality of the pictures. They were all we could do with the camera we had to smuggle past security, away from the security cameras, through the metal detectors, and into the park. Security was ridiculous at the park. On the other hand, I hear they offer free cavity searches for the kids on weekends!
Brian Gazes Into the Future...and it is Dippin' Dots!
See the Two Little Dots by the Arrow? That's Carter and Heather...
Same Two Dots...
Brian and I liked this ride. It drops you from pretty high up and you pretty much get the wind knocked out of you. Plus, there's also a lovely view of Pittsburgh's vast industrial wasteland (kindly referred to as "brownfields") from the top.
Here's a picture of Brian and I actually on the ride. Enjoy this exciting action sequence...
The Founder and Spiritual Leader of Kennywood: Kenny
Part of the park is known as "Lost Kennywood". We weren't sure why, since we found it pretty easily. Perhaps it refers to the 'h' lost from Pittsburgh in the sign...Perhaps it refers to the hopes and dreams of pretty much everyone living in Pittsburgh.
This is Al. Al is very fat. Al was...oh wait...this is actually a picture of the internationally reknowned Potato Patch fry hut. Of course, this may be why Al is so fat...
Here are Heather and Brian on a ride called the Turtle (the reason for which is visible in the next picture). Heather wanted to go to Kennywood largely to relive certain "traumatic" events from her childhood - mainly that her childhood was spent in this region. She remembered the Turtle from the last time she was at Kennywood: age 6.
The Turtle cars...
Carter, Heather, and Brian reveling in the splendor which is Kennywood. Heather thought she saw Cowboy Joe, but it turned out to be a trash can...
Fortunately, Heather and I eventually caught up with Cowboy Joe. Here we are swappin' yarns...
The Steel Phantom
The Thrill-a-Minute Gold Rush (a.k.a, the murky, humid, tunnel of boredom)
More spinning around (all the rides here are variations on a theme)
View from the top. Note the confidence inspiring rust on the right...
The end of a very long day. We are not pleased...you gotta problem with that?
